Egeus, her father makes sure that his daughter will not marry by going to the King and making him turn the love of the starstruck couple into a forbidden love. With this news Hermia and Lysander run off into the woods to proclaim their love away from the constricting walls of Athens. In the woods they are urrounded by mystical creatures that give off an Erie feeling, a feeling of mystery.
Inside these woods live another form of life, another form of Jealously and love. Oberon and Titania two very powerful creatures are both obsessed with a small Indian boy who is both beautiful. Titania finds her self drawn to the boy with a maternal duty while Oberon wants the boy to train him to become a knight. Inside the non-walls of the forest lives a scheming man who will do anything to gain the boy and his strength, even use the magical treasures of the woods. Inside the lush palace and outside in the dense forest are in trusted with the same problems but both have very different ways of dealing with each problem.
In A Mid Summer’s Night Dream, you are entrusted with multiple different love stories: A forbidden love, an accepted love, and a love story fueled by power. Inside the play it opens with a new marriage between Theseus and Hippolyta, the wedding will be a large four day event filled with entertainment and merriment, but not all joyous events can last long. Egeus is outraged by his daughter being in love with nother man that he does not approve of, he puts the future of his daughters life with the king who gives her time to mull it over, but must have a decision by his wedding day or it is death or a convent.
Hermia outraged by this idea, turns to Lysander and they run off to the woods to be married at Lysander’s Aunt’s house. Hermia tells her best friend, Helena about these Joyous plans and Helena thinks this would be an ample opportunity to tell Demetrius, the man supposed to marry Hermia. Helena and Demetrius were once to be engaged but he fell in love with Hermia the first time he saw her, Helena is still in love with him and will do anything to get back into his graces. As both sets of lovers take off to explore the woods around them a different species of creatures are living.
Around them is the fairy kingdom which is led by the King and Queen: Titania and Oberon. Oberon and Titania are at odds over a young Indian Prince given to Titania by the Prince’s mother; the boy is so Deautl ul t at T n ooeron wlsnes to make nvm a Knlgnt, out I Itanla reTuses. seeking revenge, Oberon sends his merry servant, Puck, to find a magical flower, the Juice nside can be squirted over a sleeping person’s eyelids to make that person fall in love with the first thing he or she sees when they awake.
Puck encounters Lysander and Hermia; thinking that Lysander is the Athenian of whom Oberon spoke of that was rude to a young girl, Puck afflicts him with the love potion. Lysander happens to see Helena upon awaking and falls deeply in love with her, abandoning Hermia. As the night progresses and Puck attempts to undo his mistake, both Lysander and Demetrius end up in love with Helena, who believes that they are mocking her. Hermia becomes so Jealous that she tries to challenge Helena to a fght.
Demetrius and Lysander nearly do fight over Helena’s love, but Puck confuses them by mimicking their voices, leading them apart until they are lost separately in the forest. Titania awakes with her eyelids covered in the flower’s Juices and her eyes fall upon an ass, in actuality it is bottom that has had a donkeys head put on his head. In the end all is resolved and everything returns to it’s entirety but with new beginnings for some and for others a secure future. All in all love can drive a sane man to Jealousy, but true love prevails.
Inside the play you are met with mortal King and a fairy King, three strong woman, and a disastrous theatre company but each character has an impact on one another. Theseus holds Hermia’s future in his hands, Puck screws up a passionate love turning it on an innocent lovestruck girl, Bottom from the disastrous theatre company has the privilege of becoming Titania’s play toy, and the theatre company made up of non connected townies are set to perform for the King and Queen. Love and Jealousy fuel he passion for each character’s story.
The Jealously that oberon thrusted upon puck to force him to find the flower, made everyone’s life better in the end. The lovers find their way back to the right person, Oberon gains the child, and Bottom is returned back to his theatre company Just in time to play his determined role.
